    1. Le Bon Marché: one of the best department stores in Paris (7th)

Le Bon Marché is the oldest department store in Paris and even France. It is located on the left bank of the Seine and also the only department store on the Rive Gauche. Le bon Marché department store was designed by Gustave Eiffel. That’s right, the man behind the famous Eiffel Tower. The interior and especially the stairs are really beautiful. Given that the Le Bon Marché department store is located on the left bank, it is a bit quieter than at the other department stores and you will mainly encounter Parisians. You can go there for the most beautiful (and most expensive) clothing, shoes, bags and other luxury products. Just next to Le Bon Marché is La Grande Epicerie de Paris, the supermarket for delicacies. Also a must visit!

Galeries Lafayette in Paris is located on the famous shopping street Boulevard Haussmann, in the 9th arrondissement. Perhaps the most famous and prestigious store in Paris. Nice to know is that in addition to the main building there are also 2 other buildings. Lafayette Homme, with mainly men’s clothing and Lafayette Maison, where you can find everything for your home decoration.

You can also go to the Galeries Lafayette department store for a drink or something to eat. On the top floor you can enjoy culinary delights in the restaurant with a trendy roof terrace with one of the most beautiful views of Paris.

The department store La Samaritaine, which has just reopened, could of course not be missing from this list. Parisians can shop again after sixteen years in this iconic department store, which was closed for years due to renovation works. It closed its doors in 2005. La Samaritaine was then the largest and oldest (opened its doors in 1869) department store in Paris. But now again a (expensive) shopping temple with no less than 600 brands under the legendary glass roof. In addition to the department store, La Samaritaine also houses a new luxury hotel with 72 rooms overlooking the Seine and four restaurants.

Printemps Haussmann has also been a well-known name among the luxury Parisian department stores since 1865. The department store is located in a beautiful, historic building with six floors. Slightly smaller than Galeries Lafayette but certainly no less interesting and also busy with tourists.
