About the travel blog This is Paris

Welcome to This is Paris, a travel blog for anyone who wants to make the most of their visit to Paris.

We are Ken & Anila, the faces behind this website. For more than five years, we’ve been sharing our favorite places, practical tips, hidden gems, and inspiration to help you plan an unforgettable city break in the French capital.

What started as a passion project has grown into one of the most comprehensive resources for travelers who want to discover Paris beyond the obvious. Today, we help thousands of visitors each year plan their perfect trip to Paris.

From Visitors to Residents

Our love for Paris began long before this blog existed. For years, we regularly traveled to the French capital to explore new neighborhoods, museums, restaurants, and iconic attractions.

In 2024, we took the next step and moved to Paris. Since then, we’ve been living in the vibrant Montparnasse district on the Left Bank of the Seine.

Living, working, and exploring the city every day has completely changed the way we experience Paris. We see neighborhoods evolve, discover new places before they appear in travel guides, and experience the city the way Parisians do.

That local perspective is now the foundation of everything we publish on This is Paris.

More Than Five Years of Paris Tips

Since launching This is Paris, we’ve visited hundreds of locations, explored dozens of neighborhoods, and built an extensive collection of travel guides for anyone who wants to experience Paris beyond the usual tourist route.

Our articles go beyond famous landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre. While these iconic sights certainly deserve a place on every itinerary, we also focus on lesser-known attractions, local restaurants, temporary exhibitions, markets, and exciting new hotspots.

Our goal is simple: to help visitors not just see Paris, but truly experience it.

Our Approach

Everything you read on This is Paris is based on our own experiences.

We personally visit the places we write about, test restaurants and activities ourselves, and regularly update our guides whenever things change.

This allows us to provide practical, up-to-date information that goes beyond what you’ll typically find in traditional travel guides.

Why This is Paris?

Paris is a city you’ll never completely know. Even after years of living here, we’re still discovering new places, charming streets, and hidden gems.

Through This is Paris, we want to share those discoveries with fellow travelers. Whether you’re visiting Paris for the first time, planning a romantic weekend getaway, or returning for another visit, we hope to inspire you to discover the city in a new way every time.

Our Favorite Neighborhood: Montparnasse

Since moving to Paris, Montparnasse has become our home.

This neighborhood combines a rich history with authentic Parisian everyday life. You’ll find cozy cafés, traditional bistros, beautiful squares, and a lively atmosphere without the crowds of some of the city’s busiest tourist areas.

From Montparnasse, we explore Paris every day, discovering new places that eventually make their way onto our blog.

Transparency

We value honesty and transparency. That’s why all of our recommendations are based on our own experiences and personal opinions.

Whenever we collaborate with partners or organizations, we clearly disclose it. Our editorial opinions always remain independent.
